Cape of Beers – an introduction to Cape Towns booming craft beer industry

Cape of Beers explores Cape Town’s thriving craft beer industry. The year 2012 saw a large boom in the establishment of craft breweries in and around Cape Town and two years later these non-fixture breweries are gaining huge acclaim in the artisian market of Cape Town. Targeting a young consumer market, Cape of Beers seeks to connect the dots for consumers with little knowledge of the new industry.

Key features of the site include an interactive map of breweries around the Western Cape and a unique beer infographic that compares and contrasts various beers. The project asks the question of what puts the ‘craft’ in craft beer through investigative articles on the industry and a set of mini documentaries that allow for a behind the scenes perspective of breweries and the brewers.

Approaching the Cape’s craft beers from a consumer’s perspective and addressing questions pertinent to them, the project provides a unique exploration of the relatively new industry.
