Many students go on to work in digital media, web design, or SEO straight after graduating, while others continue to develop their creative and analytical skills if they gain admission to our highly competitive Honours programme. Others with an interest in advertising and branding choose to develop their understanding of Marketing or Entrepreneurship through Diploma courses offered by the UCT Commerce Faculty and other tertiary institutions. For those with a flair for programming, the programme in Interactive Media is an excellent foundation that can lead to work as a developer.

Media and technology industries increasingly need creative types with people skills and strong technical knowledge. Our former graduates work in a wide range of fields. For example, Interactive Media graduate and long-time tutor Fabio Longano runs his own digital agency, Touch Foundry. Another former graduate Melissa Chetty is Account Manager at Creative Spark where one of her key responsibilities is  “liaison between clients and programmers”. Print production graduate Cathryn Reece is now Product Manager at 24.com. According to Cathryn, one of her key skills is that she “speaks geek” and her role is to translate what programmers say back to the 24.com editors.
